Privacy Policy

Alternote is an application built based on the platform provided by Evernote. At the same time it is run independently and is not affiliated with Evernote Corporation in any ways.

Data Storage

All your data is stored on Evernote servers in compliance with Evernote Privacy Policy.

Alternote does not store any of your data on the own servers. Alternote application queries Evernote servers directly via the Application Program Interface to read and modify all the data from your account.

Authentication

You sign in into Alternote application using oAuth 2 protocol, which means entering your login or email and password on the secure webpage on evernote.com. Alternote does not have access to your email and password. After successful logging in to Evernote account the secure webpage gives a unique key – the access token – to Alternote which allows it to:

• create notes, notebooks and tags
• update notes, notebooks and tags
• list notebooks and tags
• retrieve notes
• retrieve your name
• retrieve your Evernote username
• retrieve your Evernote account identifier
• retrieve your account type (free or premium)

Alternote does not have access to:

• retrieve account information
• update user account information
• permanently delete notes and clean Trash
• permanently delete notebooks and tags – Alternote appends a suffix “Deleted from Alternote” to a deleted notebook or tag name to hide particular notebooks and tags from the application

You may revoke the access granted to Alternote at any time by going to Applications page in your Evernote account settings.

Anonymous Statistics of Usage

Alternote collects anonymous and aggregated statistics of application usage utilizing Google Analytics in compliance with Google Privacy Policy. The collected data includes:

• unique ID of the user based on the computer you are using
• screens visited
• actions performed in the application (basically button clicks)

We do not collect any of the content from your notes, notebooks and tags.

Anonymous Errors Logging

To improve user experience Alternote application logs error messages when it encounters an error using Rollbar service in compliance with Rollbar Privacy Policy. The error message includes:

• your Evernote account identifier
• your IP
• description of the computer you are using, the Mac OS version installed
• description of the encountered error
